Shopping for Apple Memory

Viking T2700DDRS/1GB 1GB DDR333/PC2700 SO DIMMI was spending whole afternoon to shop for memory modules for my Apple iBook at eBay.

My iBook comes with 512MB memory, the maximum memory supported is 1.5GB. There is only one memory upgrade slot. So, I plan to get 1GB memory to upgrade to its max capacity.

Just like PC computer, memory upgrade is the easiest and fastest way to boost the computer performance.

Apple iBook is working fine with 512MB memory. But, I am a power web surfer. I often open a lot websites at the same time (thanks to Firefox tabs browsing). The Mac does slow down because lack of system memory (the rolling rainbow shows up)…

The memory modules in eBay is cheap. Apple store is selling 1GB memory at USD500 but eBay store is selling at around USD140 only. The worldwide shipping cost is USD25. I found a Malaysia company sells 1GB memory for RM1000 (~USD265). So, it is cheaper to buy from eBay than getting from local store!

I haven’t place my order yet, probably tomorrow. Later I show you how do I install the memory into my iBook. :D
Update: Yes, I purchased my first eBay item - 1GB memory for iBook!

Can I ask if your iBook is with WiFi?

Do you now blog with your iBook?

512Mb is already a lot I think. Why do you want to increase performance? What else are you using the iBook for?

Sorry for so many questions but just very curious :)

James: every iBook has build-in WiFi. Yes, I am now blogging with iBook. Increase performance so that I can view more websites at the same time.

    colbert: Avantbrowser is for Windows

Saft does the same thing for Safari (which I think is a bit faster)… It also saves the sites in case of a crash (which happens w/ Safari).
