Upgraded! Apple iBook 1.5GB Memory!
Wow! WOW! I received my 1GB memory module! It is delivered by Gedex (Fedex agent in Malaysia). I am writing this on my Apple iBook 1.5GB memory !
The installation of memory module is quite easy. We only need a coin, a small size philips screwdriver, and a flat-blade screwdriver. Apple published an article on installing or replacing memory module (PDF).
I carefully followed the instructions (the pics shown in document may different with current iBook but you won’t have problem about it). It took me 10 minutes to intall the 1GB memory module.

The first boot up after memory upgrade is a bit slower than usual, but after login Mac OS X everything is much smoother than 512MB. Opening applications and switching between them do not feel any lag at all!
I am very satify!
Thought
This is the first item I bought via eBay. The 1GB memory module cost me RM528, it is about 50% of local price! It took a week to ship to my house from US. It is fast. The communication with the seller went fine, but sometimes I am quite eager to get instant response.
Update: web browsing speed is improved as well! Great!

Why is the first time boot up slower?
Is it a one time thing because new memory module was detected ?

I am not sure… maybe Mac OS X detected new hardware and optimize system for it?

BTW, who cares?

On my iBook G3/900, I installed the memory upgrade and the Airport card — and you’re right, it’s really easy! Now I’ve got a G4, but I’ve got to save up for the memory upgrade. I can hardly wait. iMovie, here I come!

I own a 14″ 1.33 G4 256MB iBook.
Can I buy the exact 1G RAM as you did by following the link that you give ( Viking MPG4/1GBDS 1GB DDR266/PC2100 SO DIMM )?
Thanks
