Set Default Mac OS X Web Browser

Safari is the default web browser for Mac OS X. It is good, fast and fully compatible with Mac OS X (of course!). However, I still prefer to use other web browsers.

Unlike on Microsoft Windows, the web browsers on Mac OS X do not have a setting to set the browser as system default. After looking around in Mac OS X, I finally found that we need to set the default web browser from Safari, regardless which web browser you want to use.

Mac-Default-Browser

Launch Safari and goto “Preferences…“, the “Default Web Browser” setting is under “General” tab. All installed web browsers are automatically detected and listed. If your web browser is not listed, you can choose the “Select…” and point to your web browser application file.
