Apple Battery Exchange Program
Apple is recently calling back million laptop batteries containing cells manufactured by Sony Japan, which may cause overheating problem. The affected batteries were sold from October 2003 through August 2006 for 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4.
I went to the Apple official battery exchange program web page to check if my iBook batter is infected.
I thought I can get a free battery replacement when my battery serial number is in the 6C519 - 6C552 range, but later I found out it is not affected because my iBook battery’s serial number is not ending with S9WA, S9WC or S9WD.
Oh, that’s close!
PS: Apple support in Malaysia is not good. If your battery is affected, you need to take it to Apple dealer and then wait for a replacement battery. From Apple website, we actually do NOT need to send the battery first.
