AppZapper, the Uninstaller for Mac OS X
Unlike Windows softwares, installing applications on Mac OS X is only dragging the app into applications folder and you’re done! However, uninstalling is not only dragging the application to the Trash. Most of the softwares will leave some files on your computer that take up storage spaces.
I was looking for a uninstall for Mac OS X, until I found AppZapper, the easy to use apps uninstaller for Mac OS X. Beside deleting the app, AppZapper also find all the extra files left by the app and lets you delete them with a single click.
AppZapper Review
The AppZapper interface is very simple. You only see a big “Drag Apps Here” space.

AppZapper Interface
To uninstall an app, simple drag-and-drop the app from Applications folder to AppZapper.
In this example, I dragged ICQ for Mac into AppZapper. As you can see from the screenshot below, AppZapper found the other files left by the ICQ app.

Filenames, path and size are listed, you can show the file in Finder too. Click “Zap” button will delete all the selected files to Trash. Simply untick the check box if you want to keep any file.
There are two small icons on bottom left. Clicking the thunder sign(QuickZap) lets you uninstall Preference panes, Widgets, Plugins and Screen Savers. Clicking the Aladdin lamp like button will launch ZapGenie.

AppZapper ZapGenie
ZapGenie is something like Microsoft Windows’ “Add/remove programs” in Control Panel. It lists all the apps in Applications folder and you can uninstall multiple softwares by ticking the checkboxes. ZapGenie can sorts apps’ versions and last used. You can also search the list using the search box.
My two cents
I must say AppZapper is a “Must Have” for all Mac OS X users. It is simple, easy and useful! Although it is a shareware but $12.95(free upgrades for life) is a reasonable price.

[…] I got this software from Mac-Switcher, and I find it very useful at first. I deleted some iLife thingy where I think it’s useless for me and a waste of space too. But after a while, I start thinking of how this application works. Strange that this is Mac OS, where everything is like… Ready for you to do anything. […]
